Last weekend I traveled home to be with my family. Upon arriving my dad told me that he had a special task for me. He said I want you to put a basketball goal together for me. I thought to myself Huh... No problem. I had put countless goals together in my lifetime. So this one was going to be super easy. Well this one was not your ordinary nail your rim and plywood to a pole deal. He had a retractable goal that was broken down in to countless pieces. But again I said I got this. I started pulling out parts and putting stuff together. After about 2 hours I found that I was not even close to having this goal together. One of my dad's employees came by and offered some help. " He asked" where the instructions were? I told him they were somewhere under the trash pile. You see I don't like to use instructions. He found the instructions and after about an hour we had the entire goal up and we were shooting baskets. I believe most Christians today try to live out a Spirit-filled life without the God breathed instructions that has been given to us as a gift. Thanks Dr. Charles......
____________________________________________________________ Psalm 119:
9 How can a young person live a clean life? By carefully reading the map of your Word. 10 I'm single-minded in pursuit of you; don't let me miss the road signs you've posted. 11 I've banked your promises in the vault of my heart so I won't sin myself bankrupt. 12 Be blessed, God; train me in your ways of wise living. 13 I'll transfer to my lips all the counsel that comes from your mouth; 14 I delight far more in what you tell me about living than in gathering a pile of riches. 15 I ponder every morsel of wisdom from you, I attentively watch how you've done it. 16 I relish everything you've told me of life, I won't forget a word of it.
Oftentimes, though, many of us set that manual aside, opting to use our own instincts instead. After hours of frustrating attempts, we may finally turn to the instruction book, which the manufacturer intended us to use from the start.
In life, the Bible is our guidebook. But how often do we place it aside and lean on our own understanding, instead of trusting God’s design for how we should live? The consequences are far more devastating than a few wasted hours trying to build a train set or program a television. Failure to heed the Bible’s instructions can lead to broken relationships, failed careers, poor finances, and a directionless life in general.
The Lord blessed us with this instruction manual for a number of reasons. First, He desires to instruct us on how to live a godly life. Second, He wants us to know Him more intimately. And third, He wants to prevent sin in our lives.
Psalm 119:9 says we can keep our way pure by “living according to [God’s] word” (niv). As we read His “instruction book” each day, the Holy Spirit works in our heart, and we grow closer to the Lord. Then, life’s daily trials will seem less daunting because we’ll have the truth of Scripture to guide us.
Hence, my friends lets live Spirit filled lives with Godly guidance..........
